Hisense TVs CES 2018: Quantum dots and Dolby Vision

With a model chart the reads like the periodic table of elements (H=Hisense—we get it) Hisense greets the new model year with numerous improvements, including quantum dots for its  high-end H10, the spec sheet for which reads like a competitor worthy of Samsung’s QLED TVs.

Top of the line

The new king of the Hisense castle is the 75-inch, 120Hz, 4K UHD H10E which features an astounding 1,056 fully dimmable zones in its backlight array. The TV also sports quantum dots and Dolby Vision, which should let it easily fulfill the wide color gamut claims.

Hisense also touts other ULED (we assume that stands for Ultra LED) picture improvements as well as an Android TV interface supporting Alexa and Google Home. The H10E will be available only in the aforementioned 75-inch size.

Next down the ladder is the smaller (65-inch and 55-inch) H9E+, which is another 120Hz panel that supports Dolby Vision. It also has the Android TV interface with Alexa and Google Home support, but it lacks the H10E’s quantum dot color.

The hoi polloi

The rest of the 2018 Hisense lineup, the H9E, H8E, and H6E will support HDR10, but not Dolby Vision, and use Hisense’s own TV user interface which is competent but lacks IoT functionality. The H9E stands out in being available in 50-inch through 86-inch sizes, while the H8 and H6 are available starting at 43 inches and topping out at 65 inches.

All are native 60Hz panels, with the H9 and H8 sporting dimmable array backlighting and the H6 a single backlight.
