What is your favourite personal gadget?
My iWatch. I’ve never worn a watch until now, but this one has stuck. Apple Pay is really convenient and meeting reminders make sure I’m where I need to be.
Do you have a favourite piece of personal software?
I really like the Sonos software, it’s easy to use and gives access to music at home and work. Music is a happy thing, so having it at my fingertips is great.
What was the first piece of technology you got really excited about?
My first computer, a 386DX 33mhz, back in 1991. It was a big deal. Costing AU$3050, it included a 24 pin Epson dot matrix. You could say it was fairly exciting at the time.
What device improves your life most at work?
My Apple Airbuds - they make taking hands-free calls while I walk around the office and tuning into music while I focus easy. It’s wearable technology that you don’t know is there. It’s back in that wearable space again, that’s where things are going.
What software keeps you most productive at work?
Pulse Reports because it shows us where we are at as a business and keeps us focussed on the right things. In our office, we have company stats displayed on screens so staff can be actively engaged with our progress. Our internal app, iMate, is available for staff with key information too. These figures and reports help us know where we stand and keep us engaged with our goals.
Is there any technology that has become extinct that you would like to resurrect?
Just a few of the early 90’s computer games perhaps. But in all honesty, no. There’s a really good reason old technology dies, it’s one of the best industries for progression and things improve ten-fold. Other than for nostalgic value there is no reason for resurrecting technology. Rarely do we go backward in tech, it just moves too quickly and by so much that you can’t even compare last year’s software or Facebook’s first release to where you are today, it just doesn’t work like that.
Is there any technology you would personally recommend that you don’t think enough people know about? (Hardware or software, work or personal)
I’m going to mention three things, and I’ve already mentioned them all. The iWatch is a great tool for convenience, as are the Airbuds. The Sonos is also great, I can come to work and I can put music on, I can go home and use exactly the same technology. When I say Sonos, I should also include Spotify with this because it’s Spotify that sources the music.
Do you think anything about your personal use of tech would surprise your colleagues?
Not really, how I use technology is quite consistent. I use the Sonos at work, and again at home. I believe in bringing quality personal tech into the workspace. InfoTrack looks to bring the quality of good personal tech into the conveyancing process as people have come to expect this level of value in their experiences with technology.
