Ahead of the Oscars, Apple offers $19.99 movie bundles and discounts

The Oscars are a little less than a month away, and Apple wants to get you into the spirit (and maybe sell a few Apple TV 4K boxes) with Oscar-themed discount bundles on award-winning films.

There are eight "award winning bundles," each priced at $19.99 and consisting of four movies. Five bucks a film isn't a bad price to own a movie on iTunes—that's about what you normally pay to rent one.

In addition to the bundles, Apple has discounts on a number of past major award winners. Here's the list of what's on offer.

Discounted Past Winners

There are a couple of big lists of past Oscar winners, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay winners for under $10. There are too many in each of those categories to list, but here are a few highlights.

Limited 4K options

All of the above movies are limited to HD resolution. If you want some 4K films, there are only two related options in the store right now. Blade Runner 2049 (nominated for five Oscars this year) is on sale for $14.99. La La Land (winner of six Oscars last year) is on sale for $6.99, a steep discount from the usual $19.99 price. Apple has pages where you can pre-order this year's Oscar nominated films, many of which will be in 4K, but there aren't really any deals to be found there.
