IMS Early Adopters: Lessons Learned

As the first wave of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) adopters prepares to complete their initial trials and begin to offer IMS-based commercial services, a second wave of service providers is beginning to formalize their IMS strategy.

Lucent, as a leading supplier of IMS network elements to several large telecommunications service providers , is currently working with many early IMS adopters throughout Europe, North America, and Asia. Lucent Worldwide Services consultants and engineers are providing their expertise to aid carriers in areas such as  service definition, architecture design, multi-vendor IMS element integration, and OSS/BSS integration.

The purpose of this white paper is to share some of the “Lessons Learned” in this first-wave of IMS deployments and to enable carriers  who are in the early stages of their own IMS projects to have an  opportunity to avoid some of the pitfalls encountered by the early adopters.
