Capacity Management and the CDB

This paper describes how the ITIL capacity management subprocesses are supported by the BMC® Performance Suite for Servers in the BMC capacity management and Provisioning Route to Value™. It also addresses the outputs of the CDB and how they are used in a business scenario.

The CDB is the basis for the production of all capacity management reporting on existing and future capacity issues. BMC utilizes the Visualizer database as the CDB that serves as a repository for holding multiple types of data used by all three subprocesses of capacity management.

Information stored in the CDB can be delivered to management and technical personnel in the form of current performance and capacity usage information, as well as future capacity forecast needs.
