The age of Master Data Management (MDM) has arrived. Whether data is required to provide better business management, to comply with regulatory demands, or to constantly improve business processes in order to remain competitive, the requirement remains the same. Enterprise-wide performance management requires data sharing, and business agility requires flexible data integration architectures.  Both of these are key initiatives for IT to ensure that the organization can run optimally, and both require a common foundation of data definition.
