Everyone filters inbound email at least for viruses and spam. You couldn't do business if you didn't. But a surprising number of enterprises let outbound email leave the enterprise untouched. Not a good idea.
Filtering outbound traffic not only prevents data theft and malicious messages, it also protects against the accidental sending of confidential information, costly mistakes that are not as rare as you might think.
