Management Biographies
John P. O’Malley is currently responsible for two companies for International Data Group (IDG): CEO of IDG Connect and the CEO of IDG List Services. IDG is the world’s leading technology media, events and research company, reaching technology audiences of over 200 million in 92 countries and has revenues of $3.05 billion.
Mr. O’Malley assumed responsibilities for IDG Connect in 2007, bringing his demonstrated success in creating new products, brands, and revenue streams. He developed a global expansion model and launched a content optimization practice that led to increased ROI on lead generation campaigns and eleven new product areas. Mr. O’Malley was enlisted as CEO of IDG List Services in 2007 and turned around an aging business with the development of new digital direct products and international expansion with the aim to create strong and sustainable P&L. He sits on several IDG Boards and managed IDG Corporate Sales and IDG Research from 2003 - 2007.
Prior to joining IDG in 1999, Mr. O’Malley was the Market Intelligence Director for Compaq Computer EMEA, Munich, Germany from 1997-1999. He began his career at Gateway 2000 EMEA, Dublin, Ireland in 1995.
Mr. O’Malley won IDG’s Chairman Cup for management excellence in 2008. Mr. O’Malley is an Economics graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.
Bob Johnson is vice president and Principal Analyst at IDG Connect. His focus is to maximize the impact of marketing content and web sites to drive engagement intensity through the buying cycle. A widely respected authority on aligning buyers and vendors, Johnson's work helps drive shorter sales cycles, better investments and improve business results.
He is a well known speaker and author, and has written over 100 articles, columns and studies in leading publications. A past winner of the IT Services Industry Innovator of the Year Award for leadership excellence and META Group’s highest analyst award, he has led over 200 sales/marketing effectiveness engagements over the past ten years.
Bob has a B.A. with honors from Boston College and a MBA from Babson College.
