Overview

While reducing energy consumption continues to be the primary driver in the adoption of green IT for many enterprises, the need to manage hardware assets throughout their lifecycle — particularly at the end-of-life stage — is growing in importance. The timely and proper disposal of IT assets has considerable environmental benefits which enterprises can achieve through IT asset disposition (ITAD) initiatives often obtained from third party service providers. A comprehensive ITAD program includes secure transportation and logistics, data erasure, recycling, remarketing, and reporting, and can enable enterprises to be compliant with environmental regulations, mitigate risks, improve data security and reduce the total cost of ownership of IT assets.
