Overview

Over the past few years, the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has promoted the concept of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) as a means of better aligning the business value of data with the most appropriate and cost-effective IT infrastructure-from the time
information is added to the database until it can be destroyed. However, the SNIA does not recommend specifi c tools to get the job done or how best to use tools to implement ILM.

This white paper describes why data archiving provides a highly effective application ILM solution and how to implement such an archiving solution to most effectively manage data throughout its life cycle.
