The role of the chief information officer has been evolving with technology since the mid-1980s, when the CIO simply handled technical projects. Nowadays, the CIO is responsible for directing the IT strategy of an enterprise and the infrastructure and systems that help the enterprise to achieve its goals. However, the role of the CIO is in for another generational change for the year 2020. Here’s what a 2020 CIO job description may look like.
