Overview

The rapid growth in file-based storage is forcing companies to find ways to reduce complexity and cut costs. By virtualizing existing filers, creating tiered storage pools and automating the movement of data between them, organizations can match less frequently accessed data to more cost effective storage tiers, including the cloud. This approach avoids capital expenses by reclaiming capacity on high performance tier 1 systems and minimizes operating costs associated with file management. As well, organizations can eliminate migration headaches and reduce planned downtime.

This is the premise of our next Peer Incite research meeting where we'll be joined by Sean Maisey, Director of Operations and Engineering at Colonial Williamsburg. In this session we'll explore how Maisey and his team implemented an automated policy-based tiered storage management system, avoided substantial tier 1 acquisitions, and gained the flexibility to tier to the cloud

Please join us as we explore:
*How Colonial Williamsburg consolidated data storage using a file virtualization approach
*What key performance indicators Colonial Williamsburg used to measure success
*What role external cloud services might play in the future of Colonial Williamsburg's virtualized data center.
