  1. What time do you reach the office each day?
6:15 am. I usually hit the gym near our office and then start my day.
  2. Is your job varied?
Extremely! We set a fast pace at ToastTab.com and with that comes a wide range of activities.
  3. Is your job creative?
Yes, creative in terms of the need to think on your feet to problem solve, especially in an extremely high growth environment.
  4. What do you spend the majority of your time doing?
Usually a mix of recruiting, coaching / building the team, talking to customers, driving key company programs and strategy.
  5. Do you personalize your desk?
Yes, with pictures of my wife and three daughters, as well as a Union College water bottle.
  6. Would you describe yourself as creative?
My creativity comes out more at home than at work, I love to cook and garden.
  7. Do you have any quirky daily rituals?
Perhaps my daily mixing of the cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg and chocolate powder combinations at Starbucks, sorry I am the one.
  8. Do you tend to work on your own or with colleagues?
    With colleagues 100%.
  9. How many hours on average do you work a day?
At least 12 hours per day… but often I’m always problem solving no matter what time of day.  Also, restaurants run 24 x 7, so we do to.
  10. Roughly how much time do you spend each day on email? Taking calls? In meetings?
I prioritize my day with calls and meetings and then crank on email in between those activities.   I would pay a lot of money for someone to invent an easier way for me to do email during my commute!
  11. Do you use social media much for work?
Mostly LinkedIn to keep in touch with friends and for recruiting.
  12. What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love working with our team of Toasters and the energy in our office, and am consistently proud of what we are accomplishing together.
  13. What type of music (if any) do you listen to at work?
It’s not often, likely during our hackathons, and recently it has been the soundtrack of Hamilton.
  14. What do you do for lunch?
I often eat on the go, usually a salad and I hardly ever sit.
  15. Do you socialize with work colleagues?
Yes, usually thru the lens of company activities that we sponsor or dinner events.  Last week we had a spontaneous ‘make your own toast’ breakfast party to celebrate National Toast Day!
  16. Are there any tasks (through your career) you’ve been especially glad to get rid of?
    Expense reports.
  17. What is your last task of your day?
I briefly hit refresh on my inbox to ensure nothing big is hitting before the next day.
  18. How do you like to relax after work?
I really enjoy hanging out with my wife and kids as a way to switch gears and dial it back, usually attending a sports activity.
  19. Do you keep checking email through the evening?
Yes, but I need to get better at balancing this.
  20. Do you take work projects home with you?
    Yes, always.
  21. What would you say to your 20-year old self?
Take some risks and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
  22. If you could try out any job for a day, what would you choose?
I would play on a world cup soccer team.
  23. What device did you use to answer these questions?
    My work MacBook Air
  24. Do you use your own personal device for work?
    Yes, I use my phone.
