What was the most valuable piece of career advice that you received? Many people are trapped in an environment that is not effectively leveraging their skills (and even themselves) and don't fully understand how they could transform these skills into resources. Leave the easy life of sitting on a familiar sofa with your friends and relatives around, and find your way in a different place where you will need to start from the very beginning.

What was the worst piece of business advice that you received? I can remember a specific situation where I was told to take advantage of some information only I was party to. I now think it is better to be open and share things; I know that sometimes not sharing can give you a competitive advantage, but the relationship building that comes from sharing information can be key to long term mutual business profitability.

What advice would you give to someone starting their career in the tech industry? No one wakes up to buy a piece of software, we all have needs to be addressed and happily we select solutions for those needs. Don't look at the product alone, look at the benefits a product is bringing to your customer.

What tips would you give to someone aiming for a c-level position? Managing people and resources is a responsibility-heavy task: keep plugging away even if it isn’t always straightforward.

Are you particularly proud of any career advice that you’ve given or the career route/development of anyone you’ve mentored? I'm very happy to share my view on how people can leverage their skills in their professional career and I have a few friends who made good changes in their careers or personal life because of the advice I gave them. Energy slows like a wave from a rock in the pond when you start it, but it will then move autonomously.
