What was the most valuable piece of career advice that you received?
Remember that companies do not return favors, people do, but not companies. (Sir John Harvey Jones, when I was lucky enough to meet him and get some one on one advice.)

What was the worst piece of business advice that you received?
Just get it out of the door.

What advice would you give to someone starting their career in the tech industry?
You have to be passionate about it and try to stay ahead of the curve. This industry grows more dinosaurs than any other and does it very quickly. Don’t stand still.

What tips would you give to someone aiming for a c-level position?
If your emotional intelligence is not better than all of your peers, keep working on it until it is.

Are you particularly proud of any career advice that you’ve given or the career route/development of anyone you’ve mentored?
My son. He desperately wanted to go into the fashion industry. We told him to go with his heart, as if he enjoyed something then even if it didn’t make money (and it doesn’t) he will be poor and happy not rich and needy in every other way.
