Infor aims to improve operational efficiency in healthcare by consolidating clinical business data.

Medicine is now a technology business and the gloves are off (well actually, the disinfected gloves are on in this case) as the IT industry now strives to provide software tools for this space.

Healthcare IT goes by various names. Many refer to it as health-tech, bio-tech or life science and it includes all the buzzwords from ‘patient engagement' to ‘electronic healthcare records' and even popHealth, an open source reference implementation software tool that automates population health reporting.

Industry-specific cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application company Infor has driven its supply chain data analytics enterprise management tools towards serving this market.

Business lines, clinical service lines

The company has this month announced Infor Connected Analytics, a software product built to provide healthcare organisations with a holistic level of operational efficiency through data analytics that runs across business functions and across clinical service lines. Business functions are obviously different Line of Business (LoB) company departments, but clinical services lines may need more clarification.

According to Compass Clinical, "Some [healthcare clinical] service lines might be segmented by disease states, such as cancer or heart disease. Other services lines might be organised to address populations with unique needs, such as women, children, or geriatric patients. In some hospitals, service lines are organised around clinical interventions, such as radiology or surgery."

Infor Connected Analytics is driven by the Birst analytics platform and is designed to give health system managers a consolidated view of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics from across multiple Infor CloudSuite Healthcare applications.
