What is your favourite personal gadget?

Oh, this has to be my Garmin Forerunner 735XT. It captures all my runs, heart rate, number of steps, weight etc. which was invaluable for preparing for the London Marathon and a 50km cross country ski race in Iceland earlier this year.

Do you have a favourite piece of personal software?

My Kindle app probably gets used the most as I flick between numerous books without actually getting to the end of any. Sonos also gets used a lot for our family playlist, especially when my daughter is in melt-down mode!

What was the first piece of technology you got really excited about?

I think it was an electronic organiser, the size of a credit card, that I came across in a gadget magazine when I was about 8 years old. I’ve been into gadgets ever since!

What device improves your life most at work?

My Lenovo X1 Yoga laptop and Samsung S7 Edge smartphone jointly get me through the day.

What software keeps you most productive at work?

I still rely on Microsoft Outlook a huge amount, however I’m always keen to try something new. A lot of the time the difficulty is getting everyone else you work with to use the same thing.

Is there any technology that has become extinct that you would like to resurrect?

I think things become extinct for good reason, so are good for nostalgic reasons rather than practical ones. I really can’t think of anything!

Is there any technology you would personally recommend that you don’t think enough people know about? (Hardware or software, work or personal).

CamScanner is fantastic for taking pictures to present in the correct perspective and to assemble them into files and folders for e-mailing around. Once you’ve seen this, you’ll stop using the camera for many text-related pictures or documents.

Do you think anything about your personal use of tech would surprise your colleagues?

I’m constantly downloading new apps, trialling them and then deleting them should they not make my life more efficient.
