Tomorrow's CIO: Perceptions of the South African IT industry

South Africa is in the midst of a skills shortage. This lack of talent at the low and mid levels of the market means the country will soon experience a shortage of IT leaders to take up the posts of today’s CIOs and IT directors, many of whom are expected to retire over the next decade. Simply put, South Africa will soon face not only a lack of skills for large IT departments and projects, but also of CIOs to lead them. New research shows that the majority SA IT professionals believe there are not enough opportunities to advance into senior management positions. What does this mean for the development of tomorrow's CIO?
