InfoShot: What is Your Digital Soul Worth?

A Dutch student by the name of Shawn Buckles sold a bundle of his personal information to the highest bidder. His complete “data soul” included: his medical records, the content of his emails, his personal calendar, his location records, consumer preferences and his internet browsing history. In return for his digital soul he received 350 Euros.

There is no doubt that Buckles made a bold move. In an age of growing concern over privacy and control of personal data – it is hard to understand the true value of data we create every day. Buckles wanted to take back control over his online existence. But his actions raise an important question about online data privacy and control. How do most consumers feel about the privacy of their data?
