  Name: Marcin Kleczynski

  Company: Malwarebytes

  Job Title: CEO

  Location: San Jose, CA.

What was the most valuable piece of career advice that you received?

Marry the believers, divorce the naysayers.

What was the worst piece of business advice that you received?

You need to spend money to make money. I prefer to build businesses that are profitable from day one.

What advice would you give to someone starting their career in the tech industry?

Find something you're actually passionate about. Never settle for something you don't care about just for a salary.

What tips would you give to someone aiming for a c-level position?

Talk to your people. As a c-level executive, half of your job is human resources. By talking to your employees you know exactly what's going on and it'll open up high-bandwidth communication you've never known existed, allowing problems to bubble to the top much faster.

Also, always hire great people, not great resumes.

Are you particularly proud of any career advice that you’ve given or the career route/development of anyone you’ve mentored?

I've had friends start companies and then almost give up right before the inflection point. Too difficult, they told me. Not growing fast enough, they said. Encouraging them to keep going and then just a few short months later seeing their success definitely makes me proud.
