Job title:  CEO

Company: ShowClix, Inc.

1.         What time do you reach the office each day?
6AM. I find that this allows me to maximize my day, utilizing some quiet time to get tasks out of the way and minimizing my commute.

2.         Is your job varied?
Yes! I spend my days among many different areas of responsibility and with many different types of people and technologies. As an example, right now we are working on a project to help a major national brand provide a better VIP experience for sponsors, celebrities and corporate guests. At the same time, we are preparing to launch an exciting new product feature that we believe will have a significant impact on the daily work style of our event organizer clients.

3.         Is your job creative?
Yes. Always looking for creative ways to delight our clients, motivate our team and improve our brand.

4.         What do you spend the majority of your time doing?
Collaborating with our sales team on prospect requirements and coaching our leaders on overcoming the challenges they face.

5.         Do you personalise your desk?

6.         Would you describe yourself as creative?
On a scale of 1-10, I’m an 8. I am most effective creatively when I’m helping our team look at things in ways they may not have considered. How can we approach a prospect with a solution that will differentiate us? How can we maximize resources on our product roadmap to achieve our strategic objectives? How can we best motivate and reward a team for executing on a key project? How can we make sure we have the right priorities in mind when we’re allocating resources?

7.         Do you have any quirky daily rituals?
I eat the same breakfast every weekday. Rice Chex with almond milk and a banana.

8.         Do you tend to work on your own or with colleagues?
Primarily with colleagues, but I spend a lot of quiet time in the morning working on company projects.

9.         How many hours on average do you work a day?

10.      Roughly how much time do you spend each day on email? Taking calls? In meetings?
We use an amazing chat tool called Slack that has replaced much of what we used to do on email. The majority of my day is spent collaborating via Slack and in short meetings.

11.      Do you use social media much for work?
Yes. I’m a big fan of LinkedIn. It’s become so ubiquitous and accepted among professionals. I also use Twitter for staying up to date on technology thought leaders and latest technology trends.

12.      What do you enjoy most about your work?
Coaching our amazing, talented people and learning new things from them.

13.      What type of music (if any) do you listen to at work?
Acoustic Blues.

14.      What do you do for lunch?
I eat at my desk. Usually a salad.

15.      Do you socialise with work colleagues?
We have leadership dinners and other company outings that help to invigorate relationships and uncover new ideas, as well as being fun.

16.      Are there any tasks (through your career) you’ve been especially glad to get rid of?
I’m always happy and relieved when capital raises are successfully completed.

17.      What is your last task of your day?
Reading on the Kindle app. Primarily business, inspirational and spiritual books.

18.      How do you like to relax after work?
40 minute Kettlebell workout and dinner with my wife each night.

19.      Do you keep checking email through the evening?
Yes. I check e-mail and Slack.

20.      Do you take work projects home with you?
Yes. Always. I make it a priority to be home in time for dinner each night at 7:30 PM, but I’m always fully available after hours.

21.      What would you say to your 20-year old self?
Chill. It all will work out.

22.      If you could try out any job for a day, what would you choose?
Professional Chef.

23.      What device did you use to answer these questions?
MacBook Pro

24.      Do you use your own personal device for work?
We supply MacBooks to all ShowClix employees, so no.
