  Company: IBM

  Location: Saudi Arabia

  Years’ experience: 10+ years

1.              What time do you reach the office each day?

By 9:00 which is the start of the working day here. Ideally a little before allows me time to kick start the day.

2.              Is your job varied?

Incredibly varied and versatile.

3.              Is your job creative?

Yes. It allows a lot of room for creativity since the Alliance with Mobily is a relatively new entity

4.              What do you spend the majority of your time doing?

I would say my time is split between interacting with our partner Mobily and working on IBM activities and plans.

5.              Do you personalise your desk?

Hot desks do not allow personalization – the new open office concept at its best!

6.              Would you describe yourself as creative?

Yes, especially when it comes to the marketing and communications area.

7.              Do you have any quirky daily rituals?

Yes, I usually have a very light breakfast or just some juice or coffee.

8.              Do you tend to work on your own or with colleagues?

Mostly with colleagues. Of course own time is needed for planning and execution.

9.              How many hours on average do you work a day?

Between 8-9 hours.

10.          Roughly how much time do you spend each day on email? Taking calls? In meetings?

The split on average would be 40% email, 20% calls, 40% meetings.

11.          Do you use social media much for work?

Yes, social media is an important part of my work, both externally and internally in collaboration tools, etc.

The opportunity to change the IT landscape in Saudi Arabia with the offerings the Alliance brings to market

13.          What type of music (if any) do you listen to at work?

Don’t really listen to music at work. Sometimes however, if I need to shut out the background chatter, I go for Buddha Bar, Bhangra music.

14.          What do you do for lunch?

I work in the Kingdom Tower which is Riyadh’s most popular building and monument which conveniently has a mall and food court inside. So, I have the privilege of choosing from outlets within the food court.

15.          Do you socialise with work colleagues?

Yes, it is an important part of my job, both with IBM and with Mobily (our partner).

Shutting down my computer!

I swim a lot and enjoy watching /playing cricket. Generally spending time with family is always great.

19.          Do you keep checking email through the evening?

I have to admit to doing so. I try to avoid the temptation to check my iPhone after every beep but inevitably I do so periodically to keep myself informed and respond to urgent emails if required.

If I do then it is on the weekend, not during the weekday.

A T430 Lenovo laptop.
