InfoShot: The world's tech billionaires

Bill Gates has once again been crowned the richest man in the world. His fortune has now reached a staggering $79 billion. But who else from the tech scene made the Forbes list of billionaires? Considering how awash with money technology is at the minute, Oracle’s Larry Ellison is the only other technology entrepreneur in the top 10, with a fortune of $54 billion.

Four more tech billionaires feature in Forbes top 20: Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and Google pair Larry Page and Sergey Brin. If you just look at billionaires from the tech industry, Alibaba’s Jack Ma, former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Laurene Powell Jobs, and Wipro’s Azim Premji round off the top ten. Their combined fortune? $345.3 Billion.

Snapchat’s Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy are the youngest billionaires on the Forbes list, aged 24 and 26 respectively [Facebook’s Zuckerberg and Dustin Moskovitz also feature as two of the seven aged 30 and under]. Intel’s Gordon Moore is the oldest technology billionaire at 86, but still a relative spring chicken compared to the likes of the 99 year old David Rockefeller Sr. or 97 year old Karl Wlaschek.
