Celebrating Cinco de Mayo

“Cinco de Mayo has come to represent a celebration of the contributions that Mexican Americans and all Hispanics have made to America.”
- Joe Baca, Former US Representative

Today the biggest Cinco de Mayo party will be held in Los Angeles, California and people will be celebrating with plenty of Mexican food and alcohol. The day remembers the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla on May 5th 1862. It was a great win for Mexico as the 4,000 Mexican soldiers were vastly outnumbered by the 8,000 French soldiers.

So what’s been happening in the tech world for Mexico? Social network Twitter has been experimenting with different things to stay relevant and its latest venture is to move towards video content. Mexico has been one of the first countries to get a glimpse. Plus cloud computing is experiencing huge growth in Mexico with growth expected at a rate of 55% from 2013 through 2018.

Here are some of our Latin American highlights from the past year.
